‘Talent will never be recruited by a machine’: L’Oréal on its approach to AI in recruitment
AI can help recruiters tackle high applicant volumes, but it can’t take on a large role, says Michael Kienle, global vice-president of talent acquisition at L’Oréal.
Many brands are grappling with AI – how to use it, whether to trust it and where to apply it.
L’Oréal is not immune from this. As one of the world’s biggest brands, it is looking at how it will implement AI in its recruitment processes, says Michael Kienle, global vice-president of talent acquisition. It’s the “hottest topic” in recruitment, he says, but explains L’Oréal takes a “rational approach” to it.
We’re looking closely at the benefits, and there are definitely benefits, but we’re also looking at the potential risks,” he explains. “The most important thing is that the AI we’re using is trustworthy, and we’re not doing anything with AI that creates bias.”
